Harding Township, NJ
Harding
Township is an enclave of quiet elegance and small town sprit. Located
close to New York City, this town is surrounded by upscale suburban
towns, shopping centers and major highways. Harding Township sits in
a beautiful rural setting where cows and sheep graze in the fields and
horses can be found on the numerous bridle paths.
Forty percent of this 20 square mile township is protected open space. The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and Historic Jockey Hollow Park have wonderful recreational facilities. The rural atmosphere is further enhanced by a 3 acre per home minimum acreage in most of the town.
There is a small commercial and retail area along Mt. Kemble Avenue (Rt. 202) where you will find a few shops, and small businesses. Fine French dining at Pierre's or an informal family restaurant with great pies and ice cream at the Minute Man are local favorites. Opportunities to get involved in the community are numerous and there is a wonderful sense of community in this town. It is a rare find.
This is one of the most expensive areas in the state, with homes ranging in price from around $270,000 to $12, 000,000. There are two town house developments along Mt. Kemble Avenue.
The town's population is 3,640 people. Approximately half of the children attend one of the areas fine private schools. There is a wonderful elementary school with 329 children from Kindergarten through eight grade. Class sizes range from 15 to 20. High School students go to the Madison High School.
